Some random facts about me; I hate to write. I can't spell. I never journal. So, why blog? Well, as many of you know or will soon come to know, my life has taken quite the turn in the past months. My heart is on the mends, although, will never be completely whole again. Therefore, I am constantly looking for ways to comfort this ache. Over these past months, reading other blogs exclaiming stories about life, death, random facts, daily encounters and simple pleasures, have somehow tended to my aching heart and have allowed me to experience small moments of joy. Blogging has allowed our world to capture a small (although sometimes quite large) glimpse into another ones life, creating a thrill that is addictive and slightly contagious! My blog will hopefully nurture that thrill in hopes to offer you a 'front row seat' into my journey through this crazy experience called, life. Life, in the essence of what gives, breaths and sustains.Maybe my blogging will one day attribute to caring for another ones aching heart.
It is hard to believe that I said, 'I do' one year ago! Looking back on that day I have nothing but the best of memories. I loved every second of our wedding day, yes even the 20 min hurricane rains/wind that in return brought a breathtaking sunset! And who could forget the heat of the day that nearly took two of my bridesmaids down during the ceremony :) But, mostly, I remember the overwhelming sense of peace I experienced knowing that I had found 'him'. Eric Anthony Bender. He managed to supersede ALL of my expectations of what I was hoping for in a husband one day. He was the complete package. And he was all mine.
Here are a few pictures looking back on our day...
So, Monday night we celebrated our special day by dining at one of our downtown favorites, Distrito. And next week, we will continue our celebration as we embark on our adventure to Italy... hopefully ;)
Here are a few pics to re-cap our 1 year celebration :)
We stuck to tradition and waited the entire year before cutting into our cake top. It wasn't all that bad either!
So fun sharing the same anniversary month with my parents!
We were so ready for our night out to one of our favorite dinner spots. You should really check it out if you haven't.
And we enjoyed this beautiful sunset as we drove home... perfect ending to a perfect night.
I have no idea how many more days God intends for Eric and I together on this earth, but what I do know is I will not take one of them for granted.
I should have listened to him when he said, "Renew your passport NOW (February 2011), the process is extensive and you don't want to cut it close". My thinking...I hate details and especially tasks that involve miscellaneous errands and retrieving important documents filed away somewhere in my house... So, what was easier.... tell myself, "I'll get it done... eventually."
Well, here I am exactly 10 days away from departure day, Destination: Italy....AND no passport in hand (yet).
Dear Processing Passport Person,
Please oh please send me my passport so that I can sip wine on Italian soil to celebrate my 1 year of marriage with my hubby.
Please oh please send me my passport to save me from NEVER hearing the end of this from my hubby.
Please oh please send me my passport so that I can celebrate a 2nd anniversary with my hubby!
You may remember me adding this adorable button a few months back...
And, according to my blogger stats, quite a few of you have checked her blog out!
Well, I'm here to advertise once more for this dear friend of mine, meet Cait. I have known Cait for the past 13 years as she was one of my little sister's best friends. One of my best friends just so happens to be her older sister,Lauren. I think one of the sweetest things in life is when you can find best friends for both you and your sibling within the same family... and my sister and I did!
Last May, I had the privilege to stand in cait's wedding as her maid of honor, truly a beautiful day.
Well, this young bride has had quite a productive year. In the past 12 months she has managed to start a blog, A Bicycle Built for Two , debuting on theTasty Kitchen blog early on. She quickly captured the interest of many with her creative cooking skills, eccentric personality and daily blog posts discussing life, the early days of marriage and new puppies, to name a few.
Her creativity continued to develop as she opened her own etsy shop this past January. Anyone in need of some cute new summer accessories? If so, check it out; 'A Bicycle Built For Two'.
Well, her creative wheel has not stopped spinning. Over the past few weeks she has been quite busy venturing into the photography world offering her skills... and for quite a reasonable price, I might add ;). Are you or someone you know interested in senior portraits, engagement pics, a family photo shoot or wedding photography? Check her business out here, www.photographyjensen.com.
I love beauty and there is nothing more beautiful then watching a sister utilize all of her God given talents in such a way that Cait does.
