Some random facts about me; I hate to write. I can't spell. I never journal. So, why blog? Well, as many of you know or will soon come to know, my life has taken quite the turn in the past months. My heart is on the mends, although, will never be completely whole again. Therefore, I am constantly looking for ways to comfort this ache. Over these past months, reading other blogs exclaiming stories about life, death, random facts, daily encounters and simple pleasures, have somehow tended to my aching heart and have allowed me to experience small moments of joy. Blogging has allowed our world to capture a small (although sometimes quite large) glimpse into another ones life, creating a thrill that is addictive and slightly contagious! My blog will hopefully nurture that thrill in hopes to offer you a 'front row seat' into my journey through this crazy experience called, life. Life, in the essence of what gives, breaths and sustains. Maybe my blogging will one day attribute to caring for another ones aching heart.

2 Months

Jude,

How can it be, you are 2 months old!  And oh what a month we have had.   You weigh in at 12.1 pounds and 23.5 inches with a head circumference of 15''.  You are a healthy, hefty boy, we are SO thankful and grateful.  Oh how you love to charm us with your bright big smiles and even a little giggle hear and there.  Especially, when your big sister hovers, you let out the sweetest coo's.   Your baby acne is just about gone (thank goodness), although I have a feeling you will have more sensitive skin then your sister did.  The aveno eczema wash has been soothing and healing for your skin.  You continue to nurse like a champ, usually 5-10 min on each side every 2-3 hrs during the day and you are content.  Your hair continues to grow and thin at the same time, does that make sense?  The top is growing like a weed, although the sides have thinned out quite a bit, making for a 'one of kind' hair do.  I may foresee a hair cut in the near future ;)  Your eyes remain blue, although this could change and I have a feeling they may change to a shade of green like your daddy, we shall see.  Over the past few weeks we have worked through some of your fussy times as I am learning your cues.  When you have had enough you immediately beginning rubbing your eyes and pulling on your hair telling me it's time to put you down for a nap.  You still prefer the swing to anything else, although you are starting to love your crib more and more during the day for your naps. (You love your crib at night)  You have taught yourself to fall asleep on your own for the most part, as long as you are sleepy, you tend to drift off once you are swaddled and put in the crib.  Still no paci, which I have yet to decide if I love or hate.  I was so used to soothing your sister with it, but I also know the trouble it can cause, especially during the middle of the night.  Only once in a rare day will you take it and usually you spit it out within minutes.  The past few nights you have been giving us longer stretches, 4-5hrs rather then the 2-3hrs you had been doing.  Daddy has taken over the last feeding of the day which has become your bonding time.  Usually between 10pm and 11pm he gives you a 4-5oz bottle which allows me to pump and go to bed a bit earlier.  Thank you Daddy!  The days with you seem to fly by.  When you are awake you are most content to be where the action is.  In fact, just the other day you were doing tummy time on your activity mat and before I knew it, you had rolled over to your back! 8 weeks and rolling front to back... hmmm, is that any sort of clue to the toddler you may be? ;)  We continue to gaze at you in wonder with gratitude knowing God specifically knit you together in my body and perfectly placed you in our family.  No mistakes no regrets, you are 100 percent blessing and joy to us.  You have captured my heart baby boy, your mama loves you more then you know...

Yes it's true, Sydney's 2!

I'm playing catch up on the blog,  Sydney's 2nd Birthday although it was back in May, was not forgotten.

Although a bit of a blur, since Jude was born just 5 days prior, we still made time to celebrate our girl.  We kept it simple, family, cake, presents and balloons.  Sydney requested a strawberry cake, which is kind of a joke because, when asked if she eats cake, she replies, 'yes', but when it is put in front of her, she pushes it away saying, 'no cake'.  The girl is funny.  She has yet to really develop a sweet tooth (unlike her mama ).  But, I find joy in baking and love baking/decorating my children's birthday cakes each year, even though I knew my 2 year old would probably decline. :)

Sydney,
Daddy and I must say, we are really enjoying the age you are.  2 years old is so much fun!  You are surprising us each and every day with new words and sentences.  In fact, just the other day, YOU read us one of your favorite books, "Are you a Cow" by Sandra Boynton.  You have a love for baby dolls, taking them on walks, feeding and changing them.   One of your favorite things to do is collect trinkets, of any kind, and put them in cups, tins, bowls, etc... You love to slide and swing at the park and jump at any and every opportunity to play with water.   You love to march in any kind of parade, ride your car up and down the driveway, draw with sidewalk chalk, and host as many tea parties as you can.   We find ourselves laughing at the things you say and do every day!  You are defined by your determined walk, petite stature, long light brown hair and sweet yet cautious personality.  We love you and cannot wait to see your personality blossom this next year.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Jude- 1 Month

Jude - 1 Month Old

I have had his picture waiting for this post to be written, although Jude is now 6 1/2 weeks old.  Oh how the time is just flying by.   I do have every intention of tracking his month to month milestones, we'll see how well I do.  I have yet to buy a baby book for him, so blogging may be the way I go.

Jude, you are one month old, how can that be!  The first two few weeks home you were slow to gain back to your birth weight, but after a few weight checks, you quickly caught up packing on 2lb's in two weeks!  You LOVE to eat around the clock, makes for a tired mama these days.  But I cannot complain, you nurse twice as fast as your sister did at this age, making those middle of the night feedings quick and easy.  You are eating just about every 3 hours day and night.  You slept in our room for the first week, yet seemed restless and wanting your crib, so out you went to your nursery where you sleep so much sounder (and so do your dad and I).  You love to be rocked, cradled and bounced whenever possible, in fact your favorite place is the swing, I think you would sleep all day in there if you could.  The past week it seems you have started developing a case of baby acne and it even looks like you are loosing a bit of your beautiful hair.  The acne should clear in a few weeks and we'll have to wait and see what your head of hair may decide to do.  The days are just flying by.  You have surprised us with your contagious smile starting around 3 1/2 weeks old, oh how it just melts your mamas heart.  For the past few nights, your daddy has started giving you a bottle so I can get a few extra hours of sleep, you take the bottle well.   At your one month appointment the doctor was amazed at how alert you are, with eyes wide open, smiling and cooing!  You weighed in at 10.13lb's, you are a growing big boy.  We cannot wait to see what the next month holds as you continue to grow...

We love you so much!
